About The Role

We’re looking for someone who is an expert in their field. Who naturally builds connections and finds common ground. Who can take a big picture and put it into practice? Does that sound like you?

In this brand-new role, our Policy and Public Affairs Manager will be instrumental in developing and delivering our policy and external affairs activity in Australia. Positioning the CIOB as an expert voice in the built environment sector and a driving force for productive and sustainable change, they will work with colleagues, stakeholders, governments and strategic partners in Australia to develop policy activity which raises the profile of the CIOB.

They will represent the CIOB on the external stage, building relationships that will grow the influence and reach of the CIOB in the political domain in Australia; and will provide advice and guidance to CIOB staff and members on policy activity and relationships in the region.

During the course of this contract, it is likely that this role will be extended to include New Zealand.


About You

Not afraid to take on a new challenge, you will bring experience, ambition and passion to the role. You’ll be truly collaborative and consistently strive for excellence.

Being able to demonstrate proven experience and expertise in the field of policy and public affairs, you will understand Australia’s policy and regulatory approach to construction, and how construction policy works on a global scale. Ideally, you will also be able to show us that you understand the context and positioning of a professional body.

As a strong communicator, you’ll be able to build and facilitate effective networks, and demonstrate an ability to influence government policy across a range of issues.

Internally you’ll be collaborating with your local team in Australia as well as the Policy and Public Affairs team in the UK, so you’ll be able to demonstrate an ability to work independently whilst collaborating with different stakeholders.
