Supporting our community: what is CIOB Assist?

Life doesn’t always go to plan. Whether it’s financial hardship, personal struggles, or unexpected career setbacks, it’s comforting to know that support is available. That’s where CIOB Assist steps in; a dedicated service for CIOB members, past and present, as well as their families and CIOB staff. It’s all about helping each other through difficult times, because no one should have to face them alone.

A helping hand when it’s needed most

Financial difficulties can hit anyone at any time. CIOB Assist offers practical support to ease the burden, whether that’s help with essential living costs, support for short-term training to get back into work, or simply advice on managing your budget more effectively. Every situation is different, so the help offered is always tailored to your needs.

If you’re facing challenges that are affecting your mental health, you’re not alone, and you don’t have to cope in silence. CIOB Assist provides access to counselling, therapeutic services, and mental health resources. They’ve partnered with organisations who understand the importance of getting the right help at the right time, and everything is handled with care and confidentiality.

Guiding you through career challenges

We know how unsettling it can be when your career hits a bump in the road. CIOB Assist is here to offer guidance if you’re struggling to find work, need to refresh your skills, or just want some direction during a time of transition. It’s about helping you move forward with confidence, supported by people who understand your profession and the challenges that come with it.

Who can access CIOB Assist?

The service is open to all current or former CIOB members, as well as their dependents and CIOB staff. If you're facing personal, financial or emotional hardship, CIOB Assist is here for you. Applying is straightforward, and depending on your needs, you may be asked to share some basic documents to help process your application quickly. Every application and conversation is handled confidentially. 

And it’s all made possible thanks to donations from fellow members who want to give back and support the CIOB community. It’s a powerful reminder that we’re all in this together.
