Applying to become a CIOB Chartered Company Member can feel like a big task. Still, with the right preparation and resources, you can streamline preparing your application and increase your chances of a successful application the first time. Here are some top tips to help you navigate the process and ensure a smooth process:

Read the guidance notes and use available resources

Familiarise yourself with the guidance notes provided by our company membership assessors. Our guidance notes will show you what is expected in your application and can help you tailor your responses. You can take advantage of webinars, guidance documents, and support from our team to enhance your understanding of the application process.

Know your strengths and challenges

Before starting your application, take the time to assess your current situation. Identify any policies you already have and where you may need additional support. Don't forget that you can utilise our policy templates, which are available on Moodle, if you need to.

Schedule some time

Make sure to allocate some focused time to compile all the necessary documentation and consider how you apply your policies in everyday work. By planning ahead and setting aside dedicated time to focus on the assessment, you can ensure you efficiently complete your application without affecting other projects or too many delays.

Communicate with your references

If you contact your references in advance to confirm their availability and willingness to provide a reference for your application, it can speed up your application. Waiting for references to come back can cause delays in the assessment process, so it's important to have this information ready before submitting your application.

Double-check and use the checklist

Before submitting your application, check each section and ensure all questions are answered with relevant policies, procedures, or statements. Policies should be signed and dated, and your company logo should be included for credibility. We have a checklist available at the end of your application form to ensure that all necessary information has been included.

By taking a proactive approach and utilising the resources available, you can increase your chances of a successful company membership application. Remember we are here to help and support you with your application process. Good luck on your application journey!
