No More Lost Generations: Creating construction jobs for young people
Summary
The UK has one of the worst levels for youth unemployment in the developed world with close to one million young people not in education, employment or training (NEET). But with the construction industry seeing signs of recovery; a cross-party group of parliamentarians’ have launched a report into what role the UK’s very substantial construction programme has in securing jobs and training for our country’s NEETs.
‘No more lost generations’, is a summary of the work, findings and recommendations of a parliamentary inquiry into how construction investment could be used to generate more training and jobs for young people. The inquiry has been supported by the Chartered Institute of Building, the Construction Industry Training Board and the main charities involved in getting young people into construction.
