Career Resume

I worked for British Coal, and in Local Government for sixteen years as Surveyor before moving into teaching in 2002. My teaching career started at Leicester College where I was appointed Course Leader for Construction and Civil Engineering.
In 2006  I joined NTU as a Senior Lecturer in Building Surveying, taking up a range of roles including First year Course Tutor, Course Leader for both BSc and MSc Building Surveying, PMD Teaching and Learning Representative and EDI Representative. In 2020 I was made Principal Lecturer in Property Management and Development, having direct responsibility for postgraduate programmes and degree apprenticeships.

Personal statement

I have been proud to be part of the CIOB journey as a member of the East Midlands Committee and Nottingham Hub since 2006. Being given the opportunity to establish the EDI Advisory Panel was a great honour and challenge.  The CIOB has moved a significant distance, recruiting a Head of EDI transformation, establishing an MoU with other sector professional bodies, launching their EDI Charter, EDI awards and the EDI Conference. We now have an established panel feeding into policy and raising the profile of EDI, which will continue to support and strive for real and meaningful change.  I have many years of experience in Governance and as a Trustee and would relish the opportunity to bring these to the Trustee Board whilst continuing to champion EDI, campaigning for change across our industry.
