Sam Dibaj

FCIOB

Trustee

I am currently a Project Manager in Galliford Try’s Environment Business Unit and am delighted at having been appointed to the Board of Trustees of the Chartered Institute of Building. This three-year tenure will allow me to support the Institute in influencing the industry on the pressing, upfront issues within it and drive forward the development of the Corporate Plan.

The Institute has recently gone through a period of change where I have been involved at both a local and regional level, and now I have the opportunity to be involved in shaping the Institute for its’ future.

My most recent position with the Institute was as Chair of the Leeds Hub. I am also a member of the Non-Chartered Grade Working Group and have held previous positions on the Member Engagement Committee, Education, Qualification, Standards and Practice Board and past Chair of the European Hub Committee.

Having achieved fellowship of CIOB at the age of 32, I have worked on the Entry Grade Value Proposition Plan and Mentoring Group and am also a Chartered Environmentalist.

Since starting as a site engineer in 2008, I have had a passion for the industry I work in and find this important as a manager and leader, not just within my working team, but also when sharing my knowledge by delivering presentations, talks to students and prospective future entrants into the industry.

In my current role, I work on a joint venture as ESD with Galliford Try, MWH and Binnies delivering projects on behalf of Scottish Water. I am responsible for managing multi-disciplinary teams and delivering projects from prepare phase through to detailed design, execution, and closedown. My portfolio of projects ranges in value from £1.5m to £10m on clean water and wastewater sites.

My commitment to the institute will be to champion the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion strategy and harvest the opportunities this will bring to support a more open industry.

My focus will be on ensuring that we have a sustainable industry, which is equal and more diverse, with the necessary skills - digital, net zero and traditional, required to prosper.
