CIOB Mentoring Service

The CIOB Mentoring Service is a way for members to connect and support each other. Mentors can help mentees to achieve a mutually agreed goal.

What is the CIOB Mentoring Service?

How many of you reading this have had someone else in your career support you, guide you and help you learn the job? We know from many of our members that this is exactly how their career in construction started. Having someone, a Mentor, to help you can make a big impact on your future. So, to support members we created the CIOB Mentoring Service.

The CIOB Mentoring Service is a way for members to connect and support each other. Mentors can help mentees to achieve a mutually agreed goal.

This approach aims to support professionalism within the industry through CIOB members’ expertise.

The CIOB currently offers the following Mentoring Programmes:

  • Professional Review: to support Mentees to become ready to apply for Professional Review.
  • Chartered Fellowship: to support Mentees to become ready to submit a Fellowship written application.

Mentoring Programme – Professional Review

The Professional Review Mentoring is a 3-month programme, consisting of up to 6 sessions. The initial session lasts for 1 hour, and all following sessions are 30 minutes.

In these sessions, the Mentor will set action-orientated outcomes for Mentees and provide supportive feedback. In addition, the Professional Review process will be explained, and any questions will be answered.

Mentoring Programme – Fellowship

The Fellowship Mentoring is a 3-month programme consisting of up to 6 sessions. The initial session lasts for 1 hour, and all following sessions are 30 minutes.

In these sessions, the Mentor will set action-orientated outcomes for Mentees and provide supportive feedback. The Fellowship application process will be explained, and any questions will be answered. The Mentor will share and discuss their chosen project/initiative with the Mentee, make suggestions and give advice based on this. It will also be the responsibility of the Mentor to ensure Mentees attend respective workshops, as required.
