The programme for this year’s CIOB Members’ Forum will look a little different, as it’s the first virtual version of the week-long event the CIOB has held. But there will still be a full agenda, with presentations and Q & A sessions covering important industry topics, including quality in construction and mental health and wellbeing.

Although the 2020 forum may be virtual, there will be some opportunities to network and catch up with members of the CIOB team, plus the excitement of the Global Student Challenge finals playing out live across the week.

The forum will run from Monday 22 June until Friday 26 June 2020, beginning with a welcome message from CEO Caroline Gumble, attending her first Members’ Forum in an official capacity, following a brief visit to last year’s event in Edinburgh. There will also be some opening remarks from Professor Charles Egbu, outgoing CIOB President, reflecting on his year in office.

As well as headline industry issues, there will also be sessions covering updates on operational matters and the Institute’s future plans.

The CIOB AGM is a key part of Members’ Forum and this year will also be a bit different. The President has called a poll of Chartered members to determine the AGM. If you are a Chartered member, please look out for an email from Mi-Voice this week to cast your vote. The outcome will be announced on Wednesday 24 June, with the first Trustees meeting of 2020/21 following on Friday 26 June.

The AGM will also mark the formal handover of the Presidency from Professor Charles Egbu to Mark Beard, who will give a short presentation on the themes he will focus on during his year as President.

Friday afternoon will see the forum conclude with the new CIOB President announcing which of the final six teams has won the Global Student Challenge for 2020.
