Project Manager Rohit Malhotra MCIOB has been named the winner of the Rising Star Award at this year’s Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) Awards, recognising his exceptional contribution to the construction sector.

Rohit demonstrated an exceptional ability to solve complex challenges under pressure and quickly gained recognition with his first permanent role as a planning engineer with McLaren Construction.

He worked on the House of Wisdom, an iconic cultural and architectural beacon in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, and helped protect the project from unforeseen delays.

"I am deeply honoured to receive the CIOB Rising Star Award”, said Rohit after winning the coveted award at London’s Hilton Metropole Hotel on Thursday, 15 May.

“This recognition not only validates the hard work and dedication I've put into my career but also inspires me to continue striving for excellence. I hope by achieving this recognition, I have motivated and inspired the next generation of engineers and construction project managers to pursue their passions and contribute meaningfully to our industry.

“I feel grateful that my contributions were recognised and winning this award will undoubtedly enhance my professional profile, opening up new opportunities for growth and collaboration within the UK construction sector.”

Rohit, who now works as Project Manager for AtkinsRéalis, was commended for his commitment to developing future talent in the industry.

As a CIOB Tomorrow’s Leader champion and active STEM Ambassador, he devotes his time to mentoring emerging professionals and inspiring the next generation of construction leaders.

He added: “Moving forward, I am committed to contributing to the built environment with renewed passion and innovation and aim to have a lasting impact both within my organisation as well as the wider industry."

Caroline Gumble, Chief Executive Officer at CIOB, said: “It was my privilege to see Rohit pick up the CIOB Rising Star Award, which celebrates individuals who are making a significant impact early in their careers.

“He has already demonstrated leadership, innovation and a commitment to excellence, as well as finding the time to help and inspire other young people who are looking to build a rewarding career in the construction sector.”

This recognition not only validates the hard work and dedication I've put into my career but also inspires me to continue striving for excellence. I hope by achieving this recognition, I have motivated and inspired the next generation of engineers and construction project managers to pursue their passions and contribute meaningfully to our industry.
