Epping Leisure Centre - site visit

Summary

Pellikaan Construction Ltd has been contracted to design and construct a new Sports and Leisure Centre that will cater to the needs of the local community. This project includes:

• A new 6-lane 25m swimming pool
• A 15m learner pool with a movable floor
• A changing village
• A sports hall
• Squash courts
• Fitness facilities
• Party room facilities
• Reception/café area

Additionally, the centre will provide limited disabled parking spaces and the formation of a coach stop. The project requires the demolition of the existing car park and a significant reduced dig exercise to achieve the desired levels.

Moreover, they have had to remove 9000m³ of existing ground, some of which was classified as hazardous, necessitating extensive coordination and management. The site, situated in the middle of a residential zone, presents some challenges as it was previously a car park before the commencement of the works. Due to the logistical constraints, they have had to sequence the works carefully to maximize the available space.
