In this webinar, a panel of experts and lawyers will discuss the practical issues facing Employers and Contractors on large infrastructure projects. They will discuss the risks of large infrastructure projects related to costs, claims and delays and how they can be managed. They will also discuss joint ventures and the issues to consider when entering into JV partnerships and how to manage the associated risks

Michael Davies -Panel Chair

Country Director UAE at Quantum Global Solutions

Michael holds a BSc (Hons) in Building Surveying, LLM in Construction Law and Arbitration and is a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb), CIOB (Chartered Institute of Building) and Chartered Association of Building Engineers (CABE).

With over 18 years of experience in commercial and claims management across the UK, Middle East and Far East, earlier this year Michael was appointed as Quantum Global Solutions, Country Director UAE and is based in the company’s Dubai office. In his career, he has prepared numerous claims for extensions of time, disruption, acceleration, quantum for prolongation, variation costs, loss and expense for major clients and has acted as party-appointed expert for matters of quantum in arbitration proceedings in the Middle East.

Michael has sectoral experience across a multitude of sectors including oil and gas, infrastructure, schools, malls, metro, civil construction, industrial, solar and wind energy projects and regularly supports construction industry events in the region.


Andrew Woodward - Panel Speaker

Andrew is a Chartered Civil Engineer with a contracting background drawn from the delivery of complex civil engineering and infrastructure projects, with extensive early experience in roads, structures and marine works. Now based in Qatar for the last 12 years, Andrew is a practising Expert Witness bringing his knowledge and experience of airport terminals, power stations, oil and gas infrastructure, stadiums, metros and palaces to help parties internationally with their issues of delay, disruption, quantum and construction project management

Regional Director Qatar and Forensic Planning Director at Quantum Global Solutions. Lucia is an expert in forensic delay analysis and specialises in leading teams in claim preparation, she adheres to international standards and has authored a technical paper on Time Impact Analysis. She is also a Regional Director at AACE Region 7 Middle East, Lucia is now focused on mediating and serving as a delay expert.


Richard Dupay - Panel Speaker

Richard has over ten years experience of in construction and technology disputes acting for employers, contractors, subcontractors and suppliers. Having worked in the United Kingdom, and currently in the United Arab Emirates, he has knowledge of UK adjudications, FIDIC and NEC contractual adjudications and litigation in the ADGM and DIFC Courts. Richard is also experienced in international arbitrations having represented clients in ADCCAC, DIAC, ICC and LCIA arbitrations.

In 2016, Richard relocated to BCLP’s UAE offices where he undertakes a mixture of contentious and non-contentious construction and engineering work and has particular experience in the FIDIC forms of contract.


Michael Hartley - Panel Speaker

Michael acts for clients in the construction (onshore and offshore projects), oil and gas, energy, and power sectors, handling complex, large-scale international disputes before courts and arbitration centres (such as DIFC-LCIA, ICC, ADCCAC, and DIAC) as well as in expert determination and mediation proceedings. This has led to Michael collaborating with expert counsel across various jurisdictions, including Egypt, Libya, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE. His expertise extends to enforcement proceedings in the DIFC Courts, where he has successfully defended set-aside applications and obtained recognition orders.

In addition to his contentious work, Michael often advises on contract terms and manages pre-litigation negotiations.
